AUX input :: ACC out on my head unit died :(

Subject: ACC out on my head unit died :(

Hi all, this is a little off topic, but I wonder if anyone can help. My AVCLAN sniffer was working pretty smoothly for awhile, but the last time I plugged it in it seemed to kill the ACC out from my head unit. The head unit still works fine, but there is nothing coming out on the ACC out line anymore; it's just floating. The sniffer still works fine too if I just connect it directly to the BATTERY line, but I don't really want to do that.

Any ideas about how to fix this without replacing the head unit? It's the Toyota unit A51813, AKA Panasonic 86120-02430.

Any thoughts on what I did that caused this to die? I just had the ACC running to the voltage regulator for my micro.
Subject: Sniffer versus aux in

Hi Bartosz, I'm a bit new to this project myself, but I think I can answer your question.

I believe the "new version simplest" schematic is for a sniffer only, meaning it can read messages from the AVCLAN (IEBUS) and report them back to your PC, but it cannot send messages out to the LAN and so cannot enable aux-in.

If you're looking for schematic to enable aux-in with simplest circuit, I suggest checking out the Sigma Objects page. However, with your 2006 Corolla radio you will probably need message structure more like what Marcin has published here. The Sigma Objects message structure is for older Toyotas I think. To get something working you will probably need to combine code from Sigma Objects and from Marcin, so you will need to roll up your sleeves a bit.

I am working on a version of this project based on Arduino compatible hardware/IDE (although to get the controller operating fast enough I have to use some lower level commands rather than just Arduino IDE). The sniffer works fine, but I haven't tried to send messages out yet. I'm not so motivated to do that because I already bought a $50 box that enables aux-in by itself. I just wanted to build the sniffer to allow me to interpret a few clicks on the radio head unit and send commands to my MP3 based on that. However, I am considering trying to activate aux-in myself, mostly as an interesting exercise but also because the $50 box I purchased is getting a little flaky. Let me know if you would like some code from me; it's pretty messy right now but gets the job done.

Other forum users, please correct if I have given any wrong information.
